Drivers are specialised software programs that allow your computer’s operating system to communicate effectively with the hardware devices attached to your PC, such as printers, graphics cards, and network adapters. Backing up your drivers is an important step to ensure you can easily restore your system to its optimal functionality. Follow these steps to learn how to back up divers on a Windows device.
1. Click on the Start Menu> Type “cmd” in the search bar.
2. Right-click the Command Prompt icon that appears in the search results. Select Run as administrator.
3. In the Command Prompt window, use the following command syntax to export all drivers to a specific folder:
dism /online /export-driver /destination:<path>4. Replace <path> with the actual path of the folder where you want the drivers to be backed up. After entering the command, press Enter.
5. The DISM (Deployment Imaging Service and Management) tool will start exporting the drivers. This process may take some time depending on the number of drivers installed on your system.
6. Once the export process is complete, you will receive a message indicating that the operation was successful.
7. Navigate to the designated folder using File Explorer. Make sure that all the drivers have been properly backed up. You should see a collection of .inf files and associated driver files.
