How to Change Your WiFi Router Password

Changing your WiFi router password is a crucial step in maintaining the security of your home network. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to change your WiFi router password:

1. Make sure your computer or mobile device is connected to your WiFi network.

2. Open a web browser and type the router’s IP address into the address bar. Common addresses are 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. You can usually find the specific IP address in the router’s manual or on a sticker on the router itself.

3. After entering the IP address, you will be prompted to log in with your router’s administrator credentials. These are often set to a default like “admin” and “password”. If you haven’t changed these, it’s highly recommended that you do so.

4. Once logged in, navigate to the wireless settings section. This can often be found under tabs labelled “Wireless,” “WiFi,” or “Security.”

5. Locate the field for your WiFi password. Enter a new password that is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters for better security.

6. Make sure to save your changes by clicking the “Save” or “Apply” button. This may prompt your router to restart.

7. Changing your device will disconnect all devices currently connected to your WiFi. Each device will need to reconnect using the new password. Go into the WiFi settings on each device, select your network, and enter the new password.

8. Test your new settings by reconnecting a few of your devices to ensure everything is working correctly.
