Enabling multiple desktops in Windows is great for improving productivity as you can organise your workflow more efficiently.

1. The first thing you need to do is check your current Windows version. Make sure you are on Windows 10 or Windows 11 as multiple desktops are not supported in earlier versions of Windows. To find out how to check this, read the guide today!

2. Look for the Task View button on your taskbar, usually near the bottom of the screen.

3. If the Task View button is not there, Right-click on the taskbar> Select "Show Task View button."

4. Click on the Task View button.

5. In the Task View interface, click on the "+ New desktop" button, typically at the top or side of the screen. This will create a new virtual desktop.

6. To navigate between desktops, re-open Task View and select the desired desktop from the overview to switch to it. You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts:

  1. Press 'Windows key + Ctrl + Left Arrow' to move to the previous desktop.
  2. Press 'Windows key + Ctrl + Right Arrow' to move to the next desktop.

7. In Task View, you can drag open applications from one desktop to another to organise your workflow.

8. To rename your desktops, right-click on the desktop's thumbnail in task view and select "Rename."
