Sharing your WiFi password on Windows 10 can be very convenient when you have guests who need to connect to your network. Instead of writing down the password or telling each person individually, read this guide to find out how to share WiFi passwords on Windows 10:
Method 1: Displaying the WiFi Password Directly from Your Computer’s Settings
1. Right-click on the network icon located in the lower-right corner of your taskbar> Select “Open Network & Internet settings.”
2. In the settings window, click on “Network and Sharing Center”.
3. Click on the WiFi network to which you are currently connected.
4. In the WiFi Status window that appears, click on “Wireless Properties”.
5. Click on the “Security” tab> Check the box labelled “Show characters”. This will display your WiFi password.
Method 2: Using a QR Code
1. Use a free online tool like qrstuff.com or an app to generate a QR code for your WiFi network. Input your WiFi SSID (network name) and password to create the code.
2. Print the QR code or display it on your screen for your guests to scan with their smartphones.
Method 3: Using WiFi Sense
(Note: This feature was available in earlier versions of Windows 10 but has been deprecated in later versions. If you’re on an older version of Windows 10, this method will work for you)
1. Enable WiFi Sense by going to “Settings”> “Network & Internet”> “WiFi”> “Manage WiFi settings.”
2. Enable the option to share networks with your contacts. This automatically shares the network password with people in your contact list when they are nearby.
Method 3: Share WiFi Passwords on Windows 10 With a Guest Network
1. Open a web browser and type in your router’s IP address (commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Log in with your admin credentials.
2. Navigate to the wireless settings section and enable the guest network option. Set a unique password for the guest network.
3. Provide your guests with the guest network name and password.
