How to Recall an Email in Gmail Using the “Undo Send” Feature

Recalling an email in Gmail can be a lifesaver if you’ve sent out a message accidentally or realized in hindsight that it needed to be edited. Unlike some other email systems, Gmail doesn’t have a direct “Recall” feature, but it offers an “Undo Send” function, which can help you catch and fix mistakes before the email reaches your recipient. Here’s a step-by-step guide to show you how to recall an email in Gmail:

1. Open Gmail and click the gear icon in the upper-right corner.

2. Select “See all settings” from the dropdown menu.

3. In the “General” tab, find the “Undo Send” option.

4. Set the cancellation period, which ranges from 5 to 30 seconds. Choose the duration that you think will give you enough time.

5. Scroll down and click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

Using “Undo Send” When Sending an Email

1. Now, when you create and send a new email, a black pop-up notification will appear in the bottom-left corner of the screen. This notification includes an “Undo” button.

2. Click the “Undo” button. Gmail will recall the email, and it will take you back to the draft screen where you can make any necessary changes before re-sending it.

3. Keep in mind that once the time limit ends, the email is out of your hands, and the Undo option is no longer available.
