How to Get Rid of the Black Borders Around My Screen?

Black borders around your screen can oftentimes be a distraction you don't need while working. Here are a couple of things you can try to get rid of this issue:

1. Check Display Settings: First, check your display settings to ensure that your screen resolution is set correctly. To check this, head to your Windows Settings>System>Display>Display resolution. Choose the one which is recommended for your screen.

2. Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can also cause display issues. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Right-click on the Start button>Device Manager>Display adapters>Right-click on your graphics card>Update driver.

3. Adjust Aspect Ratio Settings: Adjusting aspect ratio settings can fix black borders on your monitor caused by incorrect settings. Here's how:

  • Monitors with physical buttons: Navigate to aspect ratio settings using your monitor's buttons. Choose the correct option like "16:9" for widescreen monitors.
  • Graphics cards settings: If you have NVIDIA or AMD graphics, use their control panel software. Look for display settings or aspect ratio options to make adjustments.

4. Check HDMI or DisplayPort Connection: Double-check your HDMI or DisplayPort cable to make sure it is connected to both your computer and monitor. Try unplugging and then plugging the cable back in.

5. Reset Monitor Settings: If none of the above steps works, you can try resetting your monitor to its factory settings. This will revert all settings back to their default values, which may help eliminate black borders. Refer to your monitor's user manual for instructions on how to reset it to factory settings.
