How to Switch a Windows Device Out of S Mode

"S Mode" in Windows refers to a restricted mode for your Windows machine which is aimed to improve security and simplicity, especially for schools and businesses. When your device is in S mode, it can only run apps from the Microsoft Store, which prevents users from installing software from other sources. This helps reduce the risks of malware and viruses.

How to Switch out of S mode in Windows 10:

In Windows 10 S mode, only apps from the Microsoft Store are allowed to run, ensuring better security and performance. If you need to install an app that isn't in the Microsoft Store, you must switch out of S mode permanently. Switching out of S mode is free, but you can't go back to it once switched. If you're unable to switch and your device is managed by your business or school, have a chat with your administrator.

1. On your device, open up the Settings, then click on Update & Security>Activation.
